Are Those Ants or Termites?

Do I Have Ants or Termites?Termites are often mistaken for flying ants, but there are noticeable differences between the two.

  • Both swarming termites and flying ants have two pairs of wings. Termites’ front and hind wings are the same shape and size. However, ants’ front wings are larger than their hind wings.
  • Ants’ antennae are elbowed, while termites’ are straight.
  • Ants have a narrow, pinched waist while termites’ waists are thicker and less defined.
